Comments by Ana Pardo “Resurrection” is a metaphor, a dialogue between the dark side of human nature and the ancestral feeling of hope that lies within us. Since mankind has walked the earth we have lifted up our eyes to the sky seeking answers even when the ground below our feet sways or has no meaning. This act is more than purely evasive feeling; it is a mechanism which offers answers and can transform our reality. Nowadays when mankind walks on the moon as well as the earth we still look upwards but we do so in a way which is subtly and philosophically more sceptical, society seems to have no hope but deep inside the individual wishes there to be hope. “Resurrection” is a metaphor where I aim to reflect the universal and the individual in a rhythm which we always dance, the cyclical music which makes everything go and come back, mankind loving life yet fleeing from it unable to bear the idea of being alone as we walk the earth, mankind rescued by what he loved to reach beyond to an unknown dimension whose mystery attracts us all: a city which has been destroyed and deposed by the pain of a loss, afraid of ending up like Troy but seeing that the towers that no longer point to the sky still have their foundations on the earth for they never filled hearts so much as when they were burnt, becoming more real once they were stripped of their reality. “Resurrection” is the ancestral call beating within us all, encouraging us to remember that if we lose something, we will find it again, it may be cloaked by destruction or on a path of torment and fire but we can be sure the path exists.
